The most hostoric beach to visit in St.Lucia

Image
Grand Anse Beach! Below are photos of Grand Anse.    Yes, I know that you have read that the beach is filled with rubbish and sargassum, but there is so much more to the location. Grand Anse is not just a beach; it has some profound historical landmarks. These photos are not nearly enough to fully experience the beauty of the landmark on the Grand Anse Beach. Furthermore, to your left-hand side upon entering the beach, there is a hilltop that you will be able to access. From the hilltop, there is a magnificent view, which I was unable to capture in a photo to prove that statement. Sadly, the beach is overtaken by sargassum, which makes it unappealing to go for a swim. In addition, local habitants visits the beach quite of...

Carnival in Martinique

Image
The video below is a Carnival parade in Martinique. The month of January is the start of Carnival in Martinique, and it ends in February with the final and main event. During that time leading up to the main event, each community has its own carnival parade, and it is quite a festive event. The name theme song is always the 'Tamboo,' and people dress up in costumes to display their art, reflecting on their history and culture. The French Antilles Carnival is a bit different from those of the English-speaking Caribbean Islands. In 2026, the dates for the main events of Carnival are from February 15th to 18th. There are four important days: Dimanche gras, lundi gras, Mardi gras, and Mercredi des cendres. Dimanche Gras begins with parades, often featuring costumes in red. Lundi Gras is a day of making fun of weddings, and men dress up in bridal attire to create a humorous atmosphere. Mardi Gras;  the parades are in black and red, but depending on the town, it may be blue and red...

About Martinqiue

Image
So, you are planning to visit a French island named Martinique. Here are a few things you need to know to help you out;  Martinqiue's language is French, but they do use their mother tongue call creole. Martinique is 30 km wide and 60 km long, and it has a population of about 350 000 inhabitants. Martinique lies north of St. Lucia, northwest of Barbados, and south of Dominica. The infrastructure in Martinique is a bit developed. The roads are in good condition, but not as wide as the roads in developed countries or those of their sister Island, Guadeloupe. On the good side, there are no potholes in the roads of Martinique. The currency used on the Island is the Euro only; however, there are currency exchange machines within the city of Fort de France, near the Marina in Le Marin, and in the industrial zone of Le Lamentin. There are also other currency exchange machines in other locations, but these locations are the ones that I have used. The country is known for its vi...

Marigot Bay in Saint Lucia

Image
Marigot Bay in Saint Lucia. If you are planning to visit St. Lucia, ensure that you pay this beautiful bay a visit. If you are traveling by land, you get to experience the breathtaking view of the bay while standing on the hilltop of the Marigot community, as shown in the photo above. Sorry to say, but the condition of the road is not too tire-friendly. However, I do hope it gets fixed in the near future. In addition, you can also access the bay by sea. To continue, there is a range of hotels and restaurants that you could choose from.  There are also mangroves that you can literally walk through to experience the magnificence of nature by the use of a wooden bridge, which creates the perfect path among the groves.  Furthermore, to access the other half of the bay, you would need to get on a ferry, which will take you to the other side of the bay by sea, which normally charges about $2 U.S.  On the other side of t...

Do you know about Mercury Beach?

What is Mercury Beach? Mercury Beach is an event held by the French nationals of Martinique, a neighbouring island off the coast of St. Lucia. Like the name suggests, it is held on a beach. That event is now being held in Martinique, not in St. Lucia anymore, but it is just as successful in Martinique as it was in St.Lucia. Mercury Beach will be held on the 26th of July 2026. The event normally takes place in the community, which is called Grande Anse in Martinique. By a beach called Anse d'Arlet at one time, but that location can change at any point.  The performers for the event are and will be Caribbean artists. They do have DJ performances, though I have never attended. I know a lot about the event based on my previous employment back in St. Lucia. The Mercury Beach party was linked to a late-night club in St. Lucia, and during that event, I always had to work. That is because, after the beach party, the attendants would go to the late-night club as the after-party. According t...

Fun things to do in st.Lucia

Image
Friday night.                Gros-Islet 'Friday Night' is one of the most popular events in St. Lucia. 'Friday-Night' is a  street party in Gros-Islet every Friday night. The street is always filled with attendees from locals, regionals, and international tourists alike. The vibrant DJ music fills the entire atmosphere, while the food and artistic vendors display their skills and fill the air with the scent of their magnificent local spices that they use to prepare their dishes. There is always a wide range of fresh or cooked Lambi (conch) to choose from. Every vendor has a different way...

The beach that I frequently visit in Martinique

Image
The beach that I frequently visit is none other than Anse Figuier, located in Rivière Pilote. Rivière Pilote is a French name given to a community in Martinique, a French island located in the Caribbean, that is also referred to as The French Antilles. The term Rivière Pilote in English actually means " The River Pilot". Wierd right?                                                    About the Island. Martinique is known for its bougainvillea flowers. This Island has some unique and radiant plants and flowers. She is the flora of France among all the French islands. The spoken language on this beautiful Island is French, but they also embrace and speak their Creole tongue. The locals refer to it as their mother tongue, ' langue mama nous'. This beach is one of the best beaches in Martinique that I have been to. It is said to be approximately 11.8km ...
