HELL! in Cayman Island

Yes, there is an actual place that is called 'Hell.' And that place is located in no other than the Great Grand Caymans in the district of West Bay. At first, when I heard about it, I could not believe it, so I decided to visit there myself.

Upon arrival, I could not believe my own eyes. The land structure is weird; I do not know how to describe it with words, but here goes. The land seems rocky but dry, dark grey with holes within the rocks, yet there are small pools of water, like a swamp, but there is no mud; that is why it is called 'HELL'. Weird, I tell you. On a personal note to me, the rocks look like they were burned, kind of like the phrase," burning in hell."

  • How to get to 'HELL' in the Caymans?

The island is not that big, I think it is around 100 square miles for all three islands. The Grand Cayman occupies 76 square miles. That is where 'HELL' is located. The island is flat and easy to move around on.

We walked to Hell, because at that time I lived in Watercrest, Blackbay. The sun was blazing hot, therefore I took an umbrella. The walk was soothing to me because I got to see different house structures and landscapes, though the place was flat, and I got to see different plants and flowers.

If walking is not your thing or your location is way off West Bay, then you can get there by taxi or bus. A taxi is available nearly all night long, so that is very convenient.

Within that location, there is a hell post office where you can send a postcard, a souvenir, or a letter from hell. Also, there is a souvenir gift shop, of course, called "the Devil's Hangout gift shop". The owner of the gift shop was super friendly, at least to me.
What I noticed at the gift shop in terms of souvenirs are lots of turtle designs, like keyrings and refrigerator magnets. That was a good reason to assume that turtles are a huge part of the Islands, and yes, I was right.
There are also so many 'HELL' signs to snap pictures with or of, so I tried them all.

If you look closely at the background of the photo below, you will see the weird landmark.

  • The experience.
The overall experience was very intriguing to me, and that is because it is one of the most unique locations and countries that I have ever been to. Not too far from Hell is a laundromat, and a little lower is a restaurant that cooks Jamaican cuisine. I tested their food firsthand, and it was delicious.

So you can definitely place the Caymans on your list of countries to visit.
