Tips on travelling on a Ferry.

Tips I use when travelling on a Ferry.

I usually use the same tips as travelling on an airplane when I travel on a ferry. I have not yet gone on a cruise ship before, but I am planning on doing so soon.

                                             Before the travel.
  • Buy or book your ticket as early as possible to ensure that you get a seat on the date of your convenience, that is because travelling on a ferry can get really crowded.
  • Book your hotel or B&B on the same date as your travel.
  • Plan places that you intend to visit.
  • Buy Insurance to secure yourself; being prepared is better than being sorry.
  • Unlike an airplane, you have the option of keeping your baggage with you on the Ferry, which is a plus. However, it is challenging to carry your bag around. So, my point is that you don't need to pay too much careful attention when buying a new bag for security purposes. You can use the ones that you have; it is up to you.
  • Buy an antihistamine medication to help with motion sickness. You may also have to visit your doctor so he or she may prescribe one suited to you.
  • Secure your documents, make extra copies of all your personal documents, especially your passport. Place it in your side bag or carry-on the night before your departure; ensure that it is with you at all times on the day of your departure.
  • Find out about the currencies used in the other country; if it is different from your own currency, buy some at the bank before you travel.
  • Learn the local phrases spoken in your destination.
                                              The day of the travel

  • Wake up as early as possible to get to the terminal as early as possible to beat the crowds.
  • Take a bottle of water with you and some light snacks, which will help ease your gut and slow down motion sickness. That tip always worked for me.
  • Have a light breakfast that will fill you up, for example, chia pudding or a smoothie.
  • In my case, I always have a reliable taxi on hand. When the day comes that the taxi has to be at my door as early as possible, being on time or at least two hours before departure is a must for me.
                                                 While on the Ferry

  • This one is optional, I normally choose a seat near the window or near the corridor.
  • Ask the hostess for a bag to vomit in if you are prone to motion sickness.
  • Before the Ferry move, start to sip your water and nibble on your snack.
  • If you really need to, drink your antihistamine before the ferry starts to move, which will allow your stomach to settle down and avoid motion sickness that can cause nausea and vomiting.
  • Continue to sip your water and take small bites of your snack in between when the Ferry is moving.
Arrival at the port of Destination.
  • Most people that I know ensure that they have a seat near the entrance. Upon arrival, they would be the first to get out of immigration. As for me, I like to sit farther from the door. In my view, I have no need to rush myself, and my stomach needs time to adjust; therefore, I normally take my time. After all, I must get out of the Ferry and make my way through immigration.
  • Keep your documents in hand while in line.
  • I guess now you are out and ready to go.
                                                         My personal ferry experience.

I would just like to share my personal experience about some Ferries.

The Caribbean Islands are interconnected by boat or ferry. Visiting one Island for vacation or business can lead you to a neighbouring destination that will increase the value of your vacation.

                              Available ferries

  • There is a ferry called l'express des îles that travels between the islands of St.Lucia, Martinique, Dominica, and Guadeloupe. The cost is quite fair, a bit less than 200 US dollars. This Ferry travels from the Port in Castries to Fort de France in Martinique, Roseau in Dominica, and Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe.
  • Other Ferries do the same, such as Coparooso, which travels only from Rodney Bay to Le Marin in Martinique, which costs a little less than 100 US dollars.
When I travel on the Ferry, I love to buy this card that lets me bring extra bags with more weight at no additional cost. The reason that I do that is that I love to shop.
